Subtropical depression 10 has formed in the Gulf of Mexico, southwest of Apalachicola, FL. This system is not expected to reach more than minor tropical storm status with winds of 45 mph (force 9 on the Beaufort scale). This is not a hurricane, and unlikely to become one.
A tropical storm warning is in force from Apalachicola to the mouth of the Mississippi River including New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain. Rains totalling 2 to 4 inches may fall in the area affected by this system, and tornadoes may form in the Florida Panhandle, southwestern Georgia and southeastern Alabama.
