Hurricane update - 3 September (II)

Hurricane Felix has weakened to a category 3 hurricane, although it could reintensify before making landfall, in about 12 hours' time. Winds are currently at 115 knots, that is 130 mph; the other hazard is heavy rainfall - 3 to 12 inches. Landfall will occur near the border between Nicaragua and Honduras. Afterwards, the cyclone will continue westnorthwest, and dissipate over the mountains of the interior of Central America.

Tropical storm Henriette bashfully declines to become a hurricane. It is supposed to be one by the time it makes landfall in southern Baja California on Wednesday. People in California and Arizona: expect some wet and muggy weather in a few days' time.

Typhoon Fitow: I am bored with this slow-coach of a typhoon that wobbles its way round the Pacific, heading for Japan. For goodness' sakes, get some speed up and let's get it all over with.
