Hurricane update - 6 September

Two down, one to go.

The remnant of Felix is producing showers and thunderstorms over Central America, and will pass into southeastern Mexico later today. It is not expected to regenerate.

Tropical depression Henriette is currently over the Mexican state of Sonora, and moving northeast. It is bringing heavy rains to northern Mexico, with totals varying between 2 and 6 inches. This afternoon, I shall post a link to the US Hydrometeorological Prediction Center, as New Mexico and Arizona should expect heavy rains (1 to 3 inches) out of the remnant of Henriette.

Typhoon Fitow is going to make landfall in 5 hours' time west of Tokyo, with winds of 85 knots (95 mph). It will become an extra-tropical depression after that, so that clears the decks.

Or does it? Something is brewing in the Pacific, something else in the Atlantic - it's peak hurricane season!

To close this post, an image from Cabo San Lucas from yesterday evening. Bit of a contrast to previous pictures from a day or so before.

  1. There seems to be more activity since we are nearing the end of the season.  We are watching something brewing in the Atlantic...hope it doesn't go full blown...take care.
