Amstetten

This town in central Austria hosts the house of horrors, where Jozef Fritzl kept his daughter imprisoned for 24 years, sexually abusing and fathering 7 children by her. When one of those died, the corpse was incinerated - illegally. Fritzl has admitted to his heinous crimes.

Footage on TV this evening showed the subterranean passageways which were home to Elisabeth Fritzl for 24 years, never seeing daylight. Two of her offspring had never seen daylight in their lives (5 and 18 years). Mr Fritzl's wife did not have a clue what was going on beneath her feet. She believed that Elisabeth had gone missing in 1984. The cellars were hidden behind bookshelves, and were soundproofed. Read more here.

  2. I find it so difficult to believe that the wife knew NOTHING at all .... she didn't suspect or ask questions when he was down in the cellar for all those days BUILDING and bringing in supplies to build a WHOLE LIVING area, then supplies to live.... toilet paper, food, towels, bed sheets.... how did their clothes get washed?  Who brought the trash out to the garbage??  She HAD to suspect SOMETHING... but she was probably scared to be locked down there, too, if she said anything!!!!

    This story is incredible!!!

  4. I don't see how that woman could NOT have known about the goings on underneath the home. I find that one hard to believe!
The man should be shot, in my opinion.

  6. I don't see how his wife had no idea of what was going on. This man should be locked up forever. I hope one day his daughter and her children can lead a normal life but it's going to take so much time for them to adjust, if they ever do. Jeannette xx

  7. this story makes me ill. I can not believe the wife had NO idea of something fishy going on.....because every single night for all those years he disappeared and got food for his daughter and their kids....this SOB needs punishment far worse than anything i can even imagine. I can not imagine the damage he has done to his daughter & their kids.

  9. If his wife didn`t know I can only assume that she was incredibly stupid. For one thing they couldn`t have gone away for a day because the poor girl and her children would have to be fed. I wonder if she ever asked if they could have a holiday?  She must have known something if not the whole truth.  That man deserves far more than the law can ever give out.

    Love Sandra x

  11. Well I was frosted when I saw he was being taken into protective custody.  He doesn't deserve protective custody.  That is an elaborate set up he had down there, how in the heck didn't his wife know this was going on?? I'm not buying what she is selling.  Not for that many years, building all that and then on top ~ burning the corpse....there is something really wrong with that woman if he could pull that off without her knowledge.  What a horrible story.
