and here is a tropical cyclone formation alert for the east coast.
The disturbance between Bermuda and the southeastern USA (code name 99L) has become
better organised and atmospheric conditions have become more conducive
for a (sub)tropical depression to form later today. The system will move
west or northwest in the next few days and those on the East Coast of
the USA should closely monitor this system's progress.
Note: At this stage, it does not appear that this will develop into a hurricane. A tropical depression will carry a lot of rain, and squally winds. Please monitor output by the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

ReplyDeleteHope there are't any bad damage or deaths from this onslaght.......
I could not help but think of you and your hurricane studies when I watched the first half of Spike Lee's HBO documentary about the Levees breaking in New Orleans. There was quite a lot of footage on Hurricane Betsy the last terrible huricane New Orleans experienced. When bad flooding occurred, but nothing like Katrina's damage in August 2005. I am learning to pay closer attention to hurricanes through reading your blogs. If only everyone had taken the warnings more serious when Katrina advanced to a No. 5 hurricane. Gerry
