Just watching the midday ferry coming in, past the cruiseliner Boudica which is in today. She is twice the size of our ferry, and with a draft of 25 feet is not able to come in alongside the town piers, which can accommodate vessels up to 20-23 feet. The passengers are therefore ferried ashore in tenders. The Boudica was built in 1973.
I was saddened to learn that the miners, trapped in a mine in Utah, are still not rescued, 11 days after the collapse. Three of their rescuers died in a further collapse, with six more injured.

Utah miners is more of the topic of conversation than the hurricanes this morning. Very sad. The seismology there is, well, dangerous.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have heard about the Utah miners Guido. I hope and pray that they will be rescued. How sad that some of the rescuers died whilst trying to save them. They are heroes.
