Tropical cyclone Daman is currently passing straight through Fiji, making a beeline for the main island of Viti Levu. Winds are expected to increase to 75 mph, with gusts to 90 mph. My tropical cyclones blog has attracted the attention of the Fijians, with about half of all hits coming from the archipelago, east of New Zealand. It sits just west of the international dateline.
