The aftermath of hurricane Ivan

Some sort of relief operation is starting to jolt into life in Madagascar, although I cannot be impressed by a paltry 12 tons of goods. It's a start, I suppose. The floods, which show little sign of abating, bring several dangers. The first is of disease, the second to the rice crop. If rice plants remain submerged for more than 7 days, they will die. This could also affect the 2009 harvest. More details in the dedicated Hurricane Ivan at Madagascar journal.

  1. I read the articles in the other journal, I was suprised to see no mention of the US giving aid.  We are usually one of the first to help out.  I surely hope they don't lose thier rice crops.  Thanks for the information.
