Prince Harry

Prince Harry, third in line to the British throne, will be withdrawn from Afghanistan. He has served there for 10 weeks, after an agreement with the British and international press not to report his presence there. Apparently, an Australian website decided to ignore this and brought Harry's deployment in the south-Asian dustbowl to public prominence. As a result, being such a high-profile target would put Harry and his comrades in grave danger, prompting his early withdrawal.

This was almost inevitable to happen, and will come as a disappointment to Harry, who was reportedly quite eager to go where his men were going.

  1. What a shame Harry is being obliged to come home ,judging by the news footage he was enjoying his tour of duty with his fellows ,I suppose he did well to get away with it for 10 weeks ..love Jan xx

  3. I commented in another person's blog that its a shame the media won't leave him alone and respect his privacy in this case and not announce where he's at; I think he really wants to serve; yes I imagine it will be a disappointment

  4. Although he had to go home early, he has actually had more "combat experience" than any royal of his generation. I always thought it was a nice thing that Queen Elizabeth had driven ambulances during WWII.

  5. I think it was great he served his time, even cut short by media...not good on that end.  You could tell he was proud of what he was doing...and how he served his country well.
    Have a great day!

  6. I feel proud also that Harry was allowed those few short weeks to do what he has always wanted to do, live life just like any other young soldier. He has shown he has courage despite his privileged upbringing and hopefully he`ll be able to go back one day.

  8. I'm all for free speech & the right to report, but it seems the media damns you if you are in a place of "entitlement" & don't endeavor to enter the fray of the fight, but then they out you when you do.  He can't win. ~Mary

  10. Isn't this ironic?  His enlistment and brave acts were so far going as planned - compleley unnoticed - until press made it impossible for him to continue in a safe covert way, like any soldier.  Such a target, such a shame.  CATHY

  11. I saw this on our national news yesterday.  I have to say that Diana did a fine job of raising her sons.  I was quite impressed that Harry expected no favoritism as one would if they were perhaps the son of a US Senator, President, etc. <cough>  Chris
